Fusion – Crossover Techniques with Oils & Acrylics

This is an A-Z course for acrylic and/or oil painters of all levels. Understand, explore, and enjoy each media in one class and learn how to integrate the two as you’re introduced to new methods and materials. Topics include supply selection, painting methods such as alla prima, under-painting, layering, and glazing. Applications for landscapes, skies, textures, and foliage will be demonstrated. We’ll work in and out of the studio, enjoying spring in the mountains. Supplies list provided: we can provide what you don’t have already.

John C. Cambell Folk School  is located in Brasstown, NC and offers a wide selection of folk and fine art classes, dance and music.  Week long classes, lodging in historic and green buildings, great food –home made bread and organically grown vegetables from school gardens…and beautiful views of fields and forest. I have been teaching workshops there since 1985. Paint during the day, then go dancin’ at night, visit other studios, or return to work as long as you like.FSchool_Garden_photo

The Painting Studio is one  of the newest studios on the 300+ acre campus.  Spacious and light-filled, this is a terrific work space I helped design.  Easels, supplies are available, along with a demonstration area, sinks, a library, and a spacious covered patio with scenic views just waiting to be rendered, you’ll never want to leave this studio. Campus gardens, historic buildings like the blacksmith barn make great plein air subjects. Join us for this one a year opportunity.
