Experience and capture the fall color in the mountains using layering of colors, rich in oil and varnish mediums to create maximum depth and control in response to our vibrant autumnal palette.

Employing methods and recipes of Florentine and Flemish masters, the student will develop an understanding of how to use oils to their full advantage. We will be using traditional materials provided by instructor, including mediums, prepared panels, paper, and canvas. Using a three-step process: toning the foundation, under-painting and over-painting to gain rich depth of color and luminosity in your paintings.

Instructor demos, discussion, and plein-air on location, weather permitting. Workshop: Mountain Arts Association hosts this workshop out of a private studio in Hayesville, NC in the Tusquitee Valley, at the peak of the fall color season, October 14-19,  2013.
